Change Ready Explorer (CRE)

Modified on Mon, 25 Aug at 3:31 AM

This article explains how to run the Change-Ready Explorer™ (CRE) assessment in BTS programs, including what CRE measures, how to add it in Momenta, how participants and facilitators access reports, and how to request group summaries and debriefs.

Introduction & Purpose

Change-Ready Explorer™ helps leaders identify their relationship to change and common behavior traps that can slow transformation. It provides rapid, practical insights for individuals and cohorts so we can target debriefs, coaching, and interventions that accelerate adoption and impact. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}

Target Audience

  • Participants / Leaders: Complete the assessment and review individual reports.
  • Facilitators / Coaches: Debrief results (CRE-certified) and guide action plans.
  • PMO / Project Support: Set up CRE in Momenta, coordinate timelines, request group summaries.

What is Change-Ready Explorer (CRE)?

Moments-Based Assessment (MBA): Participants make decisions in realistic change scenarios on any device; responses are evaluated against BTS’s POV on change readiness. Typical completion time is ~20 minutes.

Four relationships to change: Receiver (“our leaders will get us through this”), Resistor (“I can wait it out”), Controller (“I will get us through this”), and Change-ready (“we learn, adapt and change together”). CRE highlights drivers and common mindtraps for each, enabling targeted development.

The cohort-level output summarizes the proportion of leaders at varying risk levels for behavior traps and the degree of alignment to a change-ready mindset—useful for spotting patterns to address or strengths to leverage.

Running CRE in Momenta

Best practice: Submit a request to the Assessment team to add and link CRE to your journey (faster QA & consistency).

Manual setup (if needed):

  1. Go to the Client Collection page.
  2. + Add newCopy from StandardAssessmentChange-Ready Explorer.
  3. Add and link the assessment to the relevant Action in the journey.

Reports & Data Access

Individual Report (Participant/Facilitator):

  • Participants can view their own report if the Change-Ready Explorer Report is included in the journey.
  • Facilitators/PMs: In Journey Data > Overview, open the Change-Ready Explorer tab and tick to download individual reports.

What the data shows: CRE visualizes risks for behavior traps across Receiver/Resistor/Controller and alignment to the change-ready mindset to inform coaching and design decisions.

Group Summary & Debrief

Group Summary (Aggregate) Report: Email AssessmentHelpdesk@bts.com. Allow 10–12 business days for generation; a sample PPT template is available.

Debrief requirements: Assessments must be debriefed by facilitators who have completed CRE TTT and are CRE-certified. For interpretation guidance, contact the CRE product owner (Kelsey). Please also touch base with Jeni Fan and Kathryn

Clubb when using this material.

Watchouts & Considerations

  • Timelines: Build in lead time for group summaries (10–12 business days) and debrief scheduling.
  • Eligibility: Only CRE-certified facilitators should debrief; otherwise, arrange support.
  • Journey setup: Ensure the Change-Ready Explorer Report is included so participants can view their results, and validate links to the correct Action.
  • Use the insights: Leverage identified drivers and mitigate mindtraps across Receiver/Resistor/Controller while building a change-ready culture.
