This article explains how BTS runs Hogan assessments with our partner PBC, including when to use Hogan, how to request profiles, certification/debrief requirements, and the facilitator workflow. Introduction & Purpose
Hogan assessments provide robust, business-relevant personality insights for selection and development. BTS delivers Hogan via Peter Berry Consultancy (PBC). The PBC/Hogan Solutions Matrix outlines fit-for-purpose options across roles (e.g., executive, manager, graduate) and use cases (selection, development, teams, multirater).
Target Audience
- Program Managers / Project Support: Request assessments (online or hard copy) and manage timelines with PBC.
- Facilitators / Coaches: Conduct or arrange debriefs (must be Hogan Certified or use PBC consultants).
- Clients / Participants: Complete assessments and receive feedback as scheduled.
Hogan Assessments Overview (HPI, HDS, MVPI)
Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI): Describes normal/bright-side personality and how people relate to others at their best (work style and likely success).
Hogan Development Survey (HDS): Describes the dark-side tendencies that can emerge under strain and risk relationships or performance.
Motives, Values, Preferences Inventory (MVPI): Describes inner values, drivers, and interests—useful for organisational fit and environments where people thrive.
The Hogan Summary brings these together as a concise snapshot of strengths, values, and challenges for performance improvement.

Ordering & Access (Online / Hard Copy)
Online requests: Use the PBC order process to request profiles and set due dates. Charges are incurred when assessments are launched; provide candidate lists, report outputs, and required dates. Contact PBC at hoganorders@peterberry.com.au or phone +61 2 8918 0888.
Hard copy requests: Use the hard copy request template when physical materials are needed; include billing entity, purchase order (if required), distribution timelines, and report recipients.
Note: For cohorts with many candidates, attach a spreadsheet as indicated in the PBC template.
Debrief & Certification Requirements
- Hogan reports can only be debriefed by Hogan Certified Users (or by a PBC consultant arranged through the order).
- For non-certified users, delivery typically requires a scheduled debrief session (phone/virtual or in-person where available). Standard consulting rates apply.
- Some solutions require qualification/online webinar completion as noted in the Solutions Matrix.
Facilitator / PM Workflow
- Scope & Solution: Align on purpose (selection, development, coaching) and target role(s); consult the Solutions Matrix for appropriate reports.
- Order Setup: Submit online/hard copy request with dates (send, completion deadline, report due date) and report outputs; include purchase order details if required.
- Candidate Load: Provide candidate spreadsheet for larger volumes as specified.
- Debrief Plan: Assign a Hogan Certified User or request a PBC consultant for debriefing (charges apply).
- Delivery & Follow-up: Ensure reports are distributed to the nominated recipients and debriefs are completed by the required date.
Watchouts & Considerations
- Billing & timing: Charges are incurred on launch of assessments—confirm timelines and recipients before sending.
- Certification: Plan certified resources early or arrange PBC debrief support to avoid delays.
- Solution fit: Select reports based on role and purpose using the Solutions Matrix (e.g., leadership, graduate, frontline).
- Confidentiality: Share reports only with nominated recipients listed in the order form.
