This article explains how to run CliftonStrengths (Cliftons) within BTS programs, including how to purchase codes, invite participants, guide them through the assessment, and export results for facilitators. CliftonStrengths is Gallup’s assessment tool for identifying individual talents and team strengths.
Introduction & Purpose
CliftonStrengths (formerly StrengthsFinder) is a Gallup-developed assessment that highlights each participant’s natural patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. BTS uses CliftonStrengths in programs to build self-awareness, unlock individual potential, and strengthen collaboration across teams.
Target Audience
- Participants: Complete the assessment and bring reports to sessions
- Facilitators: Access aggregate results for workshops
- Project Support: Manage code purchases and troubleshoot issues
- Program Managers: Ensure correct setup and reporting
Purchasing Access Codes
For every cohort/journey, codes must be purchased from Gallup. Provide:
- Number of participants
- Type of assessment (Full 34 or Top 5)
- Company and project name

Participant Instructions
Participants receive an email invitation to complete the assessment:
- Duration: ~1 hour
- Format: 177 paired statements, select the one that best describes you
- Tips: Complete in a quiet space, avoid interruptions, and don’t overthink
Steps:
- Click the unique CliftonStrengths link
- Create a Gallup account and register
- Complete the assessment
- Download and save: CliftonStrengths® 34 and Top 5 reports
If previously completed, participants can share existing reports
Creating a Gallup Account
- Click the assessment link and select Create Account
- Complete registration form and follow on-screen steps
- If you have completed CliftonStrengths before, notify BTS
Downloading Reports
Participants must download:
- CliftonStrengths® 34 Report
- CliftonStrengths® Top 5 Report
If missed at completion:
- Log in to Gallup Access
- Open Menu → CliftonStrengths → Reports
- Download required reports (34, Top 5, Signature Theme, Theme Sequence)
Facilitator Data Exports
- Log in to Gallup Access with BTS shared credentials
- Export Team Strengths to Excel
- Copy data into the CSF_Aggregate Report – Team Member’s Themes tab

Name – SI
- Signature Theme:
Name – ST
