Translating in Momenta

Modified on Wed, 6 Aug at 5:58 AM

Overview

Momenta supports 16 languages and allows Admins and Authors to localize content at three levels: Client, Journey, and Activity (Content Object). This guide explains how to enable translations and apply them using downloadable Excel language key files.

Client-Level Language Setup

  • Go to Client Collection and open the desired client folder.
  • Click on Settings (top right), then go to the Languages tab.
  • Enable supported languages via checkboxes. These will impact login pages and system-level content.
  • To update client-wide translations, use Download Text Keys and Upload Text Key Changes. For edits, contact momentasupport@bts.com.
  • Note: Not all text is editable at client level — most localized content will be managed at the journey or activity level.

Journey-Level Translations

  • From the Admin view of your journey, go to Journey Configuration > Languages.
  • Download the Excel language keys to translate all modules, activities, and navigation labels.
  • Edit in Excel and upload your changes. Avoid pasting with formatting from Word/Google Docs to prevent display issues.
  • You can also edit module, stage, and activity names directly by switching language view from the language icon in Journey Flow.
  • Use Completion States to update module summary text in different languages.

Content Object Translations

  • Open the activity and click the language icon on the top left.
  • Download the translation Excel file. The en-US column should be copied into target language columns to maintain structure.
  • Upload the updated Excel file, then Save and Publish.
  • Only text, videos, and subtitle files can be translated. Images must be swapped manually per language.
  • Block-level structure changes (like adding/removing content blocks) must be done in en-US only.

Testing Translations

  • To test your translations, switch to demo mode in your journey.
  • Click your avatar and change your preferred language from the dropdown.
  • Ensure the correct activity is linked to your journey if content appears untranslated.
