This article explains how to use Flexible Coaching Placeholders in Momenta. Placeholders allow Admins to reserve space in the journey flow for prebuilt content from other programs (e.g., Hexagons, KTB, custom catalogs). This is especially useful for coach-driven or participant-selected customization.

Overview

A placeholder is a flexible container for inserting coaching or standard content into a journey. There are two types:

Coach Placeholder: Used to add coaching-related content like L1/L2 Hexagons
Standard Placeholder: Allows users to select optional modules or activities from a predefined catalog

How to Add a Placeholder

Open your journey in the Admin App and go to Journey Flow
Find the Stage where you want to insert the placeholder
Click the 3-dot menu on the far right of the stage
Select Add Placeholder
Choose between Coach Placeholder or Standard Placeholder

Coach Placeholder

The Coach Placeholder is typically used to embed coaching modules from BTS’s standard content libraries (especially L1/L2 Hexagons).

After selecting Coach Placeholder, give it a name
Click the “+” next to Selection List
Browse the BTS Standard Collection
Go to the “Leadership and Coach” section
Select “01 – Hexagons”
To allow coaches to select from the full list, include the Hexagon Index

This method enables coaches to customize learning paths for each participant with minimal build effort.

Standard Placeholder

A Standard Placeholder provides flexibility for the participant to select modules or activities from an external source. This is ideal for optional learning catalogs.

Used when participants should select a stage or module from an auxiliary journey or catalog
Good for offering depth tracks or “choose-your-own-path” options
Admin defines where the content is sourced from, and participant selects from the list

Note: This use case is less common but valuable for journeys with optional or open-ended exploration.
