Journey Configuration

This article walks through how to configure a journey in Momenta using stages, modules, and activities—plus tips for publishing, scoring, display, and collaboration features.

Overview

A journey in Momenta is a structured object built using stages, modules, and activities. These elements allow for deep customization and configuration tailored to your client's needs. This guide outlines the hierarchy, editing tools, display options, and best practices for managing journeys.

Journey Structure

  • Stages: Highest-level visual grouping. Can contain multiple modules.
  • Modules: Contain a set of activities. Must exist in every journey.
  • Activities: Individual interaction units (e.g., videos, tasks).

Note: Stages are optional. If a stage only contains one module, consider omitting it for simplicity.

Elements can be rearranged via drag-and-drop to match your ideal flow.

Managing Activities

To add an activity:

  • Click the 3-dot menu on the module and select Add Activity.
  • Choose type: Content Item or Non-Content (e.g., Coach Scheduling).
  • Set the title, duration, and optional point value.

To manage an activity:

  • Edit Activity: Change title, duration, points, or lifecycle settings.
  • Edit Content Item: Modify the actual content (if permissions allow).
  • View Comments: Download feedback data.
  • Create Deep Link: Generate a shareable link to that spot in the journey.
  • Delete: Remove the activity from the journey (does not delete the content itself).

Editing Modules

  • General Tab: Edit title, description, icon, and background.
  • Module Summary Screen: Customize end-of-module stats and feedback.
  • Learning Meter: Optional sentiment capture from participants (experimental).

Lifecycle & Conditional Rules

Any stage, module, or activity can be configured to appear/disappear or lock/unlock based on:

  • Date and time triggers
  • Completion of prior elements (e.g., Module B unlocks after Module A is complete)

Publishing & Previewing

Publishing: Applies recent changes live, including:

  • Journey flow updates
  • Activity or lifecycle edits
  • Visual and theme updates

Note: Content item edits do not require journey publishing.

Previewing: Use the Preview button to simulate the participant view, including lifecycle logic.

General Configurations

  • Non-Linear Flow: Let users skip around unlocked areas.
  • Content Feedback: Enable thumbs up/down per content item.
  • Support Contact: Add a custom support email to the menu.
  • Disable Notifications: Toggle system alerts on/off.
  • Completion Screen: Set message shown when a module is completed.

Progress & Scoring

Access the Progress & Scoring tab to:

  • Track activities completed
  • Compare score to top performer or cohort average
  • Display achievements for completion milestones

Appearance & Display

  • Background Image: Upload a custom canvas image (toggle light/dark mode).
  • Display Mode: Choose List View (linear) or Card View (tiles).

Reminder: Ensure all text is legible over your background.

Discussions

Enable and manage journey-wide or cohort-specific threaded discussions.

  • Aggregate discussion threads across modules
  • Start new threads unrelated to activities
  • Restrict by scope: all participants, cohort-only, or team-only
