Preview content and Test your client journey

Modified on Mon, 4 Aug at 11:46 PM

This article explains how to preview and test your journey in Momenta. You can preview individual content or test the full participant experience using a test cohort. While the Preview button is useful for surface-level checks, Live View via a test cohort is strongly recommended before launch.

Overview

There are two main ways to preview and test journeys:

  • Preview Button — Quick layout check of content and journeys
  • Test Cohort (Live View) — Full participant simulation to test functionality, data capture, and design

Best Practice: Always complete Live View testing before launch.

For setting up test cohorts, see the Cohort Configuration article. For testing notifications, see Set up notifications on your journey.

Using the Preview Button

  • Access via:
    • Content item (top right corner)
    • Journey flow page (top right corner)
  • Helpful for:
    • Quick layout or formatting checks
    • Checking if content is pulling into the journey
    • Verifying content blocks like text boxes or downloads
  • Limitations:
    • Does not show full participant view
    • Cannot simulate dynamic functionality like Pulse, Isomers, MBIR

Using Live View with a Test Cohort

Live View means adding yourself as a participant to a test cohort and logging in as a real user. This gives you full access to the live journey configuration.

Why use Live View?

  • View the journey with correct branding, menus, themes
  • Test Pulse Flows, Isomers, MBIRs, and interactivity
  • Ensure all content renders as expected on a real account
  • Validate data capture for dashboards
  • Identify issues early (e.g. translation problems, broken tokens)
  • Check downloads, resource links, and content positioning

How to Set Up a Test Cohort

  1. In your Client Collection, click the three-dot menu on the journey and select Manage Cohort.
  2. Click Create Cohort (top right).
  3. Set the start date as today and the end date one year ahead. Save.
  4. If a test cohort already exists, ask the original author to add you.
  5. Click into the cohort and press Add Participant (top right).
  6. Search for yourself or create a new user:
    • Use your @bts.com email (not .co.uk)
    • Use the Norton password generator for secure testing login
  7. Login at the client’s Momenta URL (usually clientname.btsmomenta.com).
  8. Test live journey experience as a participant.
