Overview
This article provides a complete walkthrough on embedding and configuring an Isomer simulation in NextGen Pulse (NGP). Learn how to link Isomer objects, configure metrics, and publish interactive simulations that clients can independently facilitate.
Isomer Setup Steps
Create the Isomer Object
- Add New > Content > New Isomer
- Set required parameters:
- Duration in Mins
- Folder Name (AWS)
- Sim Name (eventTitle)
- Total Rounds
- Work with your Digital Developer to ensure proper config.json and content files are posted
Important Limitations
- BA1 sims are currently unsupported due to missing return data logic
- Team-based mechanics are not functional in NGP (all users will be treated as individuals)
- Ensure Isomer sim doesn’t store progress until a team lead proceeds
Linking to NGP
Once the sim object is created:
- Create a new Pulse Flow: Add New > Content > New Pulse Flow
- Add a One Column page for sim (it will take full screen)
- Drag Inputs > Isomer Content Object onto the page
- Link the Isomer sim you created
- Set Round and Score numbers as required
Note: Sim must be published to test (Preview won’t load sim)
Results View & Metrics
- Leaders see Results via the bottom bar during the session
- Metrics and progress visibility comes from Excel ranges defined in the config.json
- To update what’s visible:
- Work with Digital Developer to update config.json and content doc
- Re-link the sim in the flow to force refresh
- Key insights: initiatives selected, round completion, score, etc.
Debrief Charts
You can add debrief charts after the sim to visualize data. Supported types include:
- Stacked Column (optional 100%)
- Grouped Column
- Trend Chart (X vs. Y values over time)
- Bubble (X, Y, and size)
- Leaderboard (sortable)
- Initiatives (heatmap or summary)
- Wobbler / Event
Use "Set Series" to define data ranges and formats (e.g., $0.00, 0.0a)

Watchouts & Considerations
- Do not reuse NGP sim builds in Journeys
- Always re-link the sim after AWS updates
- Work closely with Digital to define visible metrics
- Choose chart types that match intended insight (some are complex)
- Use clear cohort/session naming—participants will see original titles
